And Now, The conclusion:

RoomMates Part 29

by Kim Riley aka Mystic

B'Elanna laid in bed thinking about all that had transpired over the last
few days. What started out to be a simple matter of conserving space and
energy had turned into a total fiasco. Tom and Chakotay's secret
relationship was out and the two of them had had nothing but hell on top of
it, and now Tom was a half dog in a human body. // Poor Chakotay,// she
thought. They had managed to remove the tail, but Tom still acted like a
dog, she snickered. // literally //

She sighed, well all wasn't a total disaster; Tuvok went into Pon Farr
which could have had some terrible consequences should he had chosen to mate with someone who didn't want him. But fate was kind here, Harry Kim who apparently had a major thing for the Vulcan became his roommate, and Tuvok had chosen the young ensign. In fact, they were extremely happy, even if Harry was the only one who showed it.

// He can't walk straight and he can't stop smiling. Tuvok must be doing something right,// she thought.

She sighed again as she reached down to adjust herself and chided herself
that she only had balls for real when she was a man. //Strange how good that felt,// she thought, then he thoughts drifted over Tom, Chakotay, Harry, and Tuvok.  //Sometimes life is hard, but it is also unfair! They got roomed with potential mates and I? I get Kathryn, err, the Captain.// She rolled over and saw the Voyager Captain asleep, slightly snoring, but this time didn't find it anywhere as annoying as she had a while back. // I can see what Chakotay had seen in her,// she thought then quickly turned back on her back.

//Just where did that come from?// she thought in a small panic. Great Kahless, I think it's contagious! Or. or it's just another side affect of being a man. though it did feel good. stop it!// She couldn't sleep so she decided to go grab some coffee. As she relaxed she paid little heed to the fact that she was doing more starting at the sleeping Captain then sipping of her drink.

********************
// Spirits!  I can't believe this! I'm bonded to Tom, and I don't want to
change it. But, but, Damn! The man still acts like a dog!//

Commander Chakotay shifted in his bed and felt the tug of covers from the
bottom of the bed so he sat up and saw Tom curled up at the foot of it. Like a dog. He let out a small sight of frustration. //Can it get any worse? Oh, spirits! I didn't mean it.''

Just then there was a small flash of light. Chakotay covered his eyes and
Tom snapped awake and growled in protection of his love/owner. When
Chakotay could see he saw a strange young man, around his early mid teens.

The boy was dressed in Captain's reds and wore the rank as well. He looked a bit familiar, though Chakotay was sure he had never seen the young man
before. "Who are you? What do you want?" he asked as he moved a protective hand to Tom to keep him still.

"Dad said you guys were fun. So, let's play!" he smiled and looked at Tom. He snapped his fingers and produced a ball, "Here boy, fetch!" he shouted and tossed the ball into the other room.

To Chakotay's horror, Tom got all excited and ran after the ball. "Stop
it! Tom is NOT A DOG!" he shouted. It then dawned on him who the boy was.

"You're the Q kid, aren't you! I demand that you turn Tom back to normal at
once!" he growled.

The boy stared at the commander dazed and puzzled, then got a sly grin.
"You just don't know 'how' to have fun, do you," he replied. Then he snapped his fingers and another ball appeared. He tossed it into the other room just as Tom was retrieving the other one, who dropped it and chased the new one in a flash! To kid-Q's disappointment the commander just stood there glaring at him. Then a realization came to kid-Q. "Oh. I know," he smiled and snapped his fingers again. "Much better, don't you think?" he asked as he smiled mischievously as he moved into the living room to get the other one.

He was well pleased as watched the one known as Tom and the one known as Chakotay play. He snapped his fingers again and got the ball again, but
before he could toss it, he saw them doing something he knew nothing about.

He was puzzled by their actions, so being a bright Q he reached out his mind into the cosmos and sought out the answers.//EWW!// was his though. "Somehow that just doesn't seem right," he said and snapped his fingers. "Ah, much better," he smiled. "Mom and Dad should be pleased."

Captain Janeway awoke feeling better than she had in weeks. She sat up with a smile on her face, a side affect of a good dream, something about a strong Klingon male and mating. She stretched and saw B'Elanna a sleep in a chair across the room. //Poor, B'El,// she thought. //I guess I do snore. I'll go see the Doctor about that, can't have her up all night or the ship will
suffer.// She gave a soft smile at the sleeping Klingon woman and moved out of bed.

As she replicated some coffee for herself after placing a blanket on
B'Elanna, she thought about her friend and Acting Captain, Chakotay. She
moved out to the living room so not to disturb her roommate. "Janeway to
Chakotay."  She waited a few minutes then repeated it, still no response.
"Computer, location of Commander Chakotay," she asked.

<Commander Chakotay is not on board.> the computer stated.

"Janeway to Tuvok!"

"Here, Captain," replied a slightly tired voice.

"Commander Chakotay is not on board," she said with concern. Then it
occurred to her. "Computer, location of Tom Paris?"

<Tom Paris is not on board.> the unemotional voice replied.

"This must be the Q's doing," Tuvok replied hearing the computer's response.

"I want senior staff in my office in an hour," she growled. "If the Q's are
behind this who knows what's going to happen next. I only hope we'll have a way of tracking Tom and Chakotay down, somehow."

"Captain, I should remind you that  you are officially on medical leave."

"I'm going straight to sickbay and have that remedied. An hour, Mr. Tuvok,"
she stated and closed the com channel.

"What's wrong?" B'Elanna asked as she yawned and sat down on the top of the arm of the plush chair near her.

"I think the Q's are at it again. Tom and Chakotay are missing," she snapped but not in B'Elanna's direction. "I've called a senior staff meeting in an hour but first I'm going to sickbay to get myself off medical leave.'

"You're feeling all right?"

"I'm feeling fine. Really," she replied seeing concern in her roommates eyes.

"Well, just to be on the safe side, I'll get dressed and accompany you,"
B'El said and moved to do so, not waiting for a yes or no from Kathryn.

******************

"Oh, you guys are so much fun!" kid-Q shouted in glee. "Let's play a new
game. I know, I'll hide on the ship and you guys find me. If you do I'll give
you guys a treat," he smiled then snapped his fingers and was gone.

//Do you think we can find him?// Tom asked of his mate through their bond, all excited.

//Of course we can, but not right away.// Chakotay thought back, a gleam in
his eyes.

// Beast!// Tom laughed.

//And you love it!//

//Got that right! Take me stud!//

//I love you, Tom!//

//I love you too, Chak!//

*******************

Janeway sat on the biobed as the Doctor gave her one last test to determine that she was fit to return to duty. "Well, I would prefer you take a few more days, but under the circumstances, yes, Captain, you can return to duty. But take it easy."

"I'll take it as easy as it takes to find my First Officer and Chief
Pilot," she stated, her command tone back in place.  She started to moved
from the biobed when there was a small flash. Janeway saw a young boy, early to mid teens, appear in sickbay. The flash was familiar but the face was not.

"Q?"

"Ah. You've heard of me," the young man smiled pleased. "My father said he
mentioned me when he came to visit you. Kathy, right?"

//A great! Another one. Oh!// "Baby Q?" she asked realizing just which Q
this was.

"I am NOT a baby," he stomped.

"Fine," she replied coolly. "I want you to bring your parents here, and I
want you to do it now," she ordered.

"I would but I don't know where they are and I'm in the middle of a game.
If I leave the ship it would be cheating," he replied mildly.

"Nothing personal, but I don't care about your games. I want Commander
Chakotay and Tom Paris before me now!" She demanded as she took her
Captain's pose before the young kid-Q.

"Oh. well, that's easy. They'll be here any minute," he laughed. "They
really are quite smart," he smiled.

Just then the doors to the infirmary opened admitting two wolves as they
charged in. They were tired as they ran up to the Q-kid. One was a dark rich
blackish brown with dark eyes that had a bluish-green patch of fur over his
left eye. The other was a light white wolf with shining blue eyes and a very
playful nature.

//I won!// they chimed together then nuzzled each other as they mentally
laughed.

It took Janeway a few minutes to process what she was seeing, or to be more precise, whom she was seeing. It was B'Elanna who put voice to her thoughts.

"You turned them into wolves?" she cried as she charged up to the young boy.

"Change them back!" she snarled.

The young boy looked angry, "No!"

B'Elanna felt her temper rising. "If you were a man, I'd, I'd."

"I am a man," the young Q replied defensively.

"Ah! I have a better chance of being a man than you do," the Klingon woman snarled.

"As you wish!" he snarled back and snapped his fingers in front of
B'Elanna's face. "I am a man!" he shouted. "And I know when I'm not
wanted. Come on," he said as he looked down at Tom and Chakotay and with a flash they three of them disappeared.

Janeway stood there stunned. Not only was her First Officer and Chief pilot
turned into wolves, they were now pets of the young Q. And if things
couldn't get worse, B'Elanna was now male. And Janeway stared.

*********************

"Oh. Q! That was wonderful!" she purred as she wrapped her female body around her mate's male one. "I know humans have their short comings, but they definitely have the market cornered when it comes exciting primal mating rituals,"

"You know, if you would of informed me that you  had an interest in pursuing this line of activity we could have avoided the entire argument," Q said, though soothingly, without recrimination to his mate.

"And forgo what humans call 'make-up' sex? Never," she laughed.

"Ah, yes! I do suppose that we do sort of owe them a little something for
setting us right, don't you think?"

"What ever you think is best, dear. So long as you remember who these belong too," she growled seductively and possessively as she grabbed his testicles.

"Are you sure they belong on the bottom? One would think it made more sense to be on top?"

Q laughed, "Yes, that is what I thought too, but I discovered that this is
the way it is, and so chalk it up to another flaw of mortals," he grinned.
"Let's go."

Within a flash the two happy lovebirds were on the bridge of Voyager looking at a startled then very angry Janeway.

"I decided to forgive you," Q said, his arm tightly around his mate.

"I don't want your forgiveness! I want things back the way they should
be. Err. I mean I want my First officer and Chief pilot back! I don't know
what you guys think you're doing letting that kid loose, but."

"Ah! Jr.!" She cried as she realized that they  had left their child alone.
"We left him alone," she said looking at Q.

"Oh, I'm sure he's fine. Q!" he shouted.

Just then the young Q blinked in and smiled at his parents. "Mom! Dad!"

"Where are Tom and Chakotay!" Janeway snarled.

"Let me, I'll get him to talk," growled a robust male Klingon that was
sitting in Chakotay's seat.

"I'll handle this, Lan," Janeway stated dryly.

"No one touches my boy," the female Q stated seriously.

"Now, now. We're all friends here," Q soothed.

"You think letting your boy kidnap two of my officers for two months makes
us friends?" Janeway asked sarcastically.

"Q?" the male Q asked of the boy.

The kid-Q looked bashful. "I was having fun. See," he says snapping his
fingers and the two wolves appeared. "They're just fine." He smiled down at
the two playful animals and scruffed their fur.

"Oh, how adorable," the female Q stated as she stepped closer to the two
just to jump back as the dark wolf growled at her and stepped in front of
the white one protectively.

"Ah, you're so protective of her, aren't you?" the young Q teased of the
dark wolf as he hugged him.

"Him! They are both males," Janeway snapped.

"Riiiiggght," the kid-Q smiled.

Janeway turned to face the older and more familiar male Q. "I want them
back to complete normalcy, meaning human. fully human males, and I want it now!"

"Well, I do suppose we do owe you," he said putting his arm around his wife with a warm smile. "Oh."

"Ah, Dad?"

"Yes?"

"Um. what?" the kid-Q turned to the two wolves as if he could understand
him. "Oh, yes of course. Go where ever you want," he smiled.

The bridge crew watched as the two wolves moved across into the turbolift
and it worked for them. The boy beamed with pride as he turned back to his
parents. "It should be any time now," he said with a smile. "So, if you
would excuse me."

"Hold up! What do you mean any time now? I want my officers back!" Kathryn raged.

The female Q placed an arm around her son. "Q, you can't keep them. I'm
sorry, but none of them," she said, the gave a comforting squeeze to her
disappointed son.

"But, Mom?" he tried.

"Q, you heard your Mother. Besides, there are much better pets to choose
from in the galaxy then a couple of morphed humans," he sated mischievously, pleased to see he had intrigued his son.

"Okay," he conceded. "But we still have to wait," he smiled.

The two older Q's looked at their son then each other, then grinned.
"Ah.yes!" they replied.

"Yes, Captain. You who have added so much to our happiness shall have yours as well. But we can't send you home, so forget about it!" the older male Q stated.

"Yes, the council has forbidden it. Sorry, them's the breaks," she smiled.

"By this time tomorrow you'll have your people back and a few surprises," Q
grinned and with a snap of his fingers, he and his family were gone.

"What do you suppose they mean by that?" Harry asked in concern for his
friends.

"One can never be sure when it comes to the Q," Janeway replied wearily.
"Harry, locate Tom and Chakotay."

"Sensors show them in Chakotay's quarters?" Harry stated amazed that the
two wolves could use the voice-activated turbolift.

"Tuvok, you have the con. Lan, you're with me. Harry have the Doctor meet
us in Commander Chakotay's quarters," Janeway ordered and moved off the
bridge, Klingon in tow.

******************

"What seems to be the problem?" The Doctor asked as he moved along the
corridor with his holotransmitter.

"Tom and Chakotay are back on board, though still in animal form. I want
you to make sure they are all right," Janeway stated as she keyed in her
override code.

"Captain, may I remind you that I am a doctor not a veterinarian."

"Today you're both," growled the buffed Klingon.

The small group moved  and started searching the dark quarters. The heard a sound of a whimper from the bedroom and moved the door. When it opened their way was blocked by a growling, snarling Chakotay.

"Commander Chakotay, that is no way for a officer to behave," Janeway
stated.

"But natural for a wolf protecting its mate," the Doctor stated.

"Why would Chakotay protect Tom from us?" Lan asked.

"Lights, twenty percent," The Doctor stated. When the lights raised they
saw the white wolf in the far corner of the bed by the wall panting heavily.
The Doctor took a step forward but was meet with gnashing teeth from the
dark wolf. Since he was only a hologram it didn't' hurt, but he stopped so
Chakotay wouldn't harm himself in his feeble attempts to attack. He pulled
out his tricorder and ran it in the direction of Tom. Then he raised his
eyebrow and turned back to Janeway as Chakotay realized he wasn't stopping the thing, moved back to take up a new defensive position.

"What?" the Captain asked.

"It would seem that Commander Chakotay and Tom Paris are about to
become parents," he smiled.

"What!" both Lan and Kathryn shouted.

"Yes. According to my information, wolves' gestation period is only 62-63
days, and they have been gone that long. Though the odds of."

"You are kidding, right?" Lan asked stunned.

"I have not downloaded a humor file that would allow me to make up this
type of joke, " he stated dryly. "Tom has a female form as a wolf. He. she,
is about to give birth to four healthy cubs, which is just over the normal
amount produced by wolves. The cubs, from my readings, are small but as I said, they are healthy."

"I can't believe this," Janeway stated, shocked.

"Well believe it," the Doctor said. "Since there is nothing we can do here,
or anything that Commander Chakotay would let us do, anyway. We might as well wait it out."

"Q did say they'd all be normal tomorrow, right?" Lan asked as he moved to
take a seat on Chakotay's couch.

"I only hope all of them will be normal. I mean, could you  imagine Tom and
Chakotay's cubs running around here?"  Janeway sat down next to Lan.

"If you don't need me, I'll return to sickbay. I'll estimate that Tom won't
deliver his first cub for another two hours. I'll be back then."

Janeway watched the holo Doc leave.  She sighed. "All this over what?
Roommate assignments?"

"It could be worse," Lan teased.

Kathryn smiled warmly at the strong Klingon male next to her. "Oh? How's
that?"

"It could be Harry or Tuvok in there giving birth to cubs right now," he
chuckled. "Or Tom married to Tuvok or I might not have gotten paired with
you," he said.

"Bite your tongue," Kathryn smirked as she leaned in and kissed the strong
robust male as her side. "Better yet, let me," she purred.

****************

The Q's kept their promise. The next day after the children were born, the
entire Chakotay-Paris clan was turned human. Except for their over playful
nature, and Chakotay's tendency to growl if anyone even looked at Tom wrong, they were all perfectly normal. Two days after little Kolopak, Nayib,
Jennet, and Bell, were born, the Q's were back on board.

Before anyone could say a word the entire crew found themselves in the
large cargo bay that was beautifully decorated in bright pastels, and a
large banquet at the far end and a huge wedding cake with three couple
figures on top.

Janeway found herself in a long white wedding gown standing next to a very
dashing Lan, formerly B'Elanna, who was in traditional Klingon dress uniform. She then saw Harry was looking very handsome in a black tuxedo standing next to Tuvok who wore the traditional colors of Vulcan of dark red and light browns in his ceremonial robe. Then next to them was Tom who wore the most stunning blue robe and pants outfit that made him glow as Chakotay wore a similar one in earth tone brown, making him look regal.

"What, what is the meaning of this?" Janeway asked as she saw the three Q's appear in front of them all dressed in Starfleet uniform.

"Ah, Kathy," the male Q smiled. "Today we grant you all your wishs. You and 'Lan' are in love and want to be married, well so do the other two sets of lovebirds. So, here you go!" With a snap of his fingers Admiral Ross appeared on the deck ready to perform a legal ceremony.

"He won't remember being here, but it's all on the up and up, Kathy.
Congratulations!" the female Q said warmly.

"Thank you," kid-Q said, then they all left.

"Well?" Janeway asked of those standing before a very real and pleased
Admiral Ross, who had no clue that they didn't belong here.

"I would be honored, Kathryn," Lan stated with pride.

"Oh, Tuvie! Can we?" Harry asked his love muffin.

"It would be the most logical thing to do, since we are here," Tuvok said. //Anything for my wittle Hawwy.//

"I do love you, Chakotay, " Tom smiled all aglow.

"I don't need a ceremony to know I'll stay with you till the day I die,"
Chakotay replied from his heart. "But I would make you an honest man," he
smiled.

"You did that a while back," Tom smirked.

"If it is all agreed?" Ross asked. Seeing it was, he proceeded. After all the
couples had given their vows, "By the power given on to me by Starfleet and
the Federation of Planets, I now pronounce you all married and permanent
RoomMates."

With that, all the couples kissed, Admiral Ross vanished and the crew
celebrated the marriage of the senior staff of the USS Voyager, while all
secretly vowing never to change room assignments. Ever.

The end.
